CLUB HISTORY

The Alexandra & District Motorcycle Club was formed in 1972 when a handful of locals decided to go trail riding. The Club very quickly grew in numbers and before long it was decided that we should have our own Club Championship competition. Through the years we have held events on many private properties in the area, including some very big and innovative motorcycle events attracting riders from all over Australia.

We are affiliated with Motorcycling Australia (Victoria) being the governing body controlling motorcycle competition in Victoria.

We currently have membership of about 150 many of which are families with young children. Our activities include Members Days, trail riding days and weekends, Club competition and social outings such as our Christmas Breakup and Presentation night.

Being a family orientated club we are mindful of catering for all rider types and skill levels and ages in all our activities.
Our big annual fundraisers are the Kenda Rally at Eildon and the Sawmill Rally at the base of Mt Buller. The events have the ability to attract over 500 riders and is well known in the motorcycling calendar.

It was always our belief that the key to our long term future was the purchase of our own property and in 1997 that dream was realised when we purchased 633 acres just out of Alexandra. We have developed the property as a motorcycling and recreation facility for the use of Club members. There is also the option after three years active membership to apply for Shares in the property (Conditions Apply). This enables you to have personal access to “Skyline Ridge” for you to use within the permit conditions.

The Club property is open to non-unit holding members on the second weekend of every month, alternating between Saturday and Sunday. Further access is available on Club days or as a guest of a unitholder. There are no fees for Club members on open days, but fees apply to non-members, riding or camping guests.

In order to maintain Skyline Ridge and its facilities, it is a requirement of Membership that all members/shareholders participate in at least one Working Bee annually together with attending either the Kenda Rally or Sawmill Rally in a working capacity and one Meeting.

Monthly Club meetings are held at the RSL in Healesville on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 8.00pm and guests are welcome. Come along earlier for a meal and a catch up with other members.
